Tragbares aus Stoff (2021)

The project Tragbares aus Stoff invited children from the age of 7-15 to redesign, reassemble, and reuse second-hand fashion. Working with donated second-hand clothes, a small selection of fabric, and all kinds of applicable elements, together with the children, we spent two weeks creating new fashion pieces. The altering, recycling, and reinvention of the second-hand pieces encouraged the children to think about the production of fashion, the value of our clothing, and the treatment of “waste”.
The open atelier functioned as a part of the summer art academy Kunst&Krempel in Munich. After spending two weeks creating the clothes, the pieces were exhibited in the Academy Gallery in a Munich underground station. During the exhibition, the children were encouraged to try on the clothes and present them to the people walking by, turning the underground station into their runway.
The designs shown here are all collaborations between the children and us.
